Sorry, Kai-chan...(Day 6, Late AM)

Isawa O-washi had, for the extent of his tenure with the Half Moon, had done his level best to be obedient, helpful, and dependable for both of his superiors. Loyalty to his crew, and his Captain, had kept him from trouble many a time and he was grateful to them for many thing and did not lightly disobey the wishes of his betters.
Kaimenko, however, didn't have the hold on him that the Captain did. Her request that he 'behave' would be obeyed...but only insomuch as that O-washi had decided to do his drinking in the Embassy instead of in some random bar in the market district.
He hoped that she appreciated it...it wasn't likely he'd get the cleansing row here he so dearly craved. Still, it was better than nothing and he'd take what he could get.

"Gunso!" Hails a smiling Kakita from a ways behind. "How goes it?"

"About as well as a Hida in a china shop." O-washi smirked, then held up a bottle (one of several) and waved it suggestively. "Want some sake?"

"A smashing good time then! Sure, I'll have some." Sugita wanders over, oblivious to the real problems. It shows. "I can at least drink something I'm used to around here."

"Dunno about that...ever had Agasha-brewed stuff? I figured you'd stick to your own since the Crane are good at it." Even as he spoke, O-washi was pouring a generous measure for his new drinking buddy. "I quite like it...it's got a hint of pineyness that reminds me of the Isawa Mori."

"I don't even know what that means. If it's made from rice and gets me schlaquered I'll take it." Unceremonious to the last, Sugita simply takes a swig as soon as it is poured. "Yep, that'll do. You know... Crane are good at lots of things I'm not."

"So? You're in their lands, so it's what most of your bars serve." O-washi shrugged. "I've docked in a Crane harbor or two so I should know." Seeing an empty cup, O-washi quickly filled it again. "Once this bottle's gone, it'll be on to either the Crab stuff or the Yoritomo brews...got a fair few of those over the winter. I figure if I drink enough fast enough, I'll be mostly normal again before Kaimenko-sama can hear about it."

"Meant I couldn't really tell the difference. And I don't care to." Sugita glances sidelong at that last part. "Are we... not supposed to be drinking for some reason?"

"You? You're on shore leave, so no worries. Me? I've been given my marching orders." O-washi knocked back his own cup and then modulated his bass tones to a falsetto, trying and failing to mimic his fellow gunso. " 'I don't give a rat's ass if every Clanmate you have is up for the block, Isawa-san, don't you dare go out and get yourself drunk and stupid again.' Pah!"
Snorting, the big man took yet another pull. "She's daft if she thinks she can keep me from a bottle on shore leave, though to placate her I'll stay in while I do my drinking. Don't need her putting her geta up my ass again. That fucking hurt."

"Hah! I can understand. She nearly put me unconscious in one punch. That woman is like a boar having a bad day. Every day."

"Pah! She's been pretty cheerful this trip. You should see her when she's actually on a bad one...things just randomly burst into flame. Like eyebrows."
O-washi reached up to rub one of his own reflectively. "It took mine almost two months to grow back last time."

by Daidoji Fuichi
Fresh from the baths and a healthy surprise in the form of the notice pinned to the front gates, Fuichi elected to honor his seafaring ancestors with a drink. Or four. It seemed that the hate flowed in both directions and, not for the first time, Fuichi found himself wondering how long it would be before something truly intolerable occurred.
He stopped short when he realized that the room was not empty, but pressed on anyway. 'Blessings of the morning, Kakita-san, Isawa-san. I hope that I do not offend when I ask to join you?"

It seemed that the notice at the Embassy gates had been the last straw for Qian-Fan's temper. The slender Agasha was working himself up into quite an incandescant rage as he stomped along the corridors spitting some rather vile oaths about barbarian heathens that he probably had just overheard and didn't actually understand. The curses only ended when he almost walked into the back of the Daidoji.

Fuichi merely sidestepped, his head inclined to the furious Agasha. "Ah, you've seen it as well, then."

Qian-Fan seemed about ready to spit another curse out from between clenched teeth in answer before getting hold of his temper with visible effort and merely nodding. He then belatedly remembered to bow to those present.

"A drink for my honorable friend as well. If we cannot share the comraderie of Earth, Wind, and Fire, then at least we can speak with fermented rice."
Fuichi bellied up to the bar.

Qian-Fan followed him quietly. He might be in a rage but he hadn't forgotten his disliking of sake and it's ilk.
"Tea. I do not trust what I may do if I drink in this mood."

Time to stop the talk about Moshi-gunso. No clue how the Agasha would react. Hm. Sugita turns about to say hello. "Hello! The drink isn't mine, but my company is available."

Fuichi seemed mystified. "Why, Agasha-san, you would become drunk! What else
could you do?" And so the Daidoji set out to prove why his family was the manliest of the Crane, despite the fact that he was...not.

Any humour was lost against the Agasha's fury.
"Burn this travesty of a barbarian gathering of hovels to the ground."
